The Statistics department started functioning in 1984 with the introduction of M.Sc. Statistics course. In addition, it offers subsidiary Statistics for B.Sc. Mathematics, a compulsory main paper in Statistics for B.A. Economics and M.A. Economics.  Ever since its inception, the department has always kept a high standard in academic and co-curricular activities. The department has been clocking steady and meaningful progress thereafter.
