Webinars @ Communicative English

Esperanza is a series of literary competitions conducted every month for the students of Communicative English Nirmala College, to touchstone their talent in literature, journalism and Communication. Wide range of Competitions such as spell bee, poetry writing, calligraphy, photography, portfolio, Extempore, Video Making,Collage Making, Recitation, Short Story Writing, Literary Quiz, Essay Writing etc are organized via both online and offline platforms. An exclusive Google Classroom is created for this purpose alone. Students are given deadlines to submit their works. Thereafter, their performances are deeply scrutinized by teachers and are awarded with attractive prizes. This venture helps students to showcase their talents in various fields and improve on them with the guidance of teachers.
The Department of Communicative English, Nirmala College conducted a National Webinar on Media on 10th September 2020. The renowned journalist and the Brand Manager of Malayala Manorama Dr. Nebu John Abraham was the resource person. He handled an enlightening session on ‘Media Cacophony and Deficient Democracy’. The talk primarily focused on the role played by media in disseminating the essence of democracy to the common folk. The webinar was presided by Dr. KV Thomas, Principal. Dr. Nebu’s expertise in the field of Journalism and his unique style of presentation made the session more informative and interactive. He came up with novel perspectives in viewing media as a pillar of democracy. The programme was conducted via the online platform Google Meet and even had YouTube live streaming. About 450 participants around the country actively took part in the webinar and were very much interested to share their views on this valid topic. Mr. Prince Samuel Joseph, Mr. Arun Geo Augustine and Irine Ajay were the Programme Coordinators. Online Feedback form was circulated and E- certificates were issued to the participants at the end. The staff and students of the department contributed their maximum for the successful completion of the webinar.
