ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION
The department of computer science – BCA hosted the inauguration of the activities of the association for the year 2024-25. The event was held on 21/8/2024 which was filled with faculty, students, and esteemed guests. To officially start the activities of the BCA department for the academic year 2024-25 and thus to encourage active participation from students in department activities. Additionally to formally welcome the first-year (2024-28) batch of BCA to the department as well as the association.
Activities for the association for the academic year have formally begun. Students gain awareness of the association and its goals. The event inspires students to take an active role in association activities.
ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION
In honour of World Environment Day 2024, the Department of Computer Science (BCA) organised a programme titled ‘Plant a Tree’ on 5th June. Mr. Saji Joseph, the administrator of the self-financing programme, spoke to the students about the value of protecting the environment. Five teachers and seventy pupils took part in the programme.
E-REVIVE E-Waste Collection Campaign
Department of Computer Science – BCA organized and E-waste collection on 23rd and 24th August. On 23rd the drive took place at Nirmala College by collecting E-waste from staff and students. On 24th students visited approximately 350 houses of Ward 1 in Avoly panchayath to collect the waste items. The e-waste collection was a resounding success. Department raised the fund for the purpose of students scholarship, while the environmental benefits contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable community. The enthusiasm and dedication of the students involved made this event a valuable learning experience and had a positive impact on society.
Aim of the programme was to collect unused electronic wastes from college and ward1 of Avoly panchayath for the purpose of raising funds for student scholarship in our department.
CARRIER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
Department of computer Science (BCA) organized a carrier orientation programme by Varghese Benny, founder and chief executive officer, Rabbitsquare on 05/07/2024. The topic discussed were Latest trends in IT, Resume Essentials and Professionalism.
STARTUP TALK
The department of computer science – BCA in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) organized a startup talk on “how to plan for a startup: legal and ethical steps”. The event was held on 08/8/2024 which was filled with faculty, students, and esteemed guests.
ALUMNI TALK
An Alumni Talk was conducted for first year students (2024-28 batch) on 6th July 2024 by our 2003-2006 batch alumni Sherry Abraham, Lead-Talent Acquisition, UST. The topics discussed were latest trends in IT industry, Importance of Internships and Carrier opportunities after BCA.
PLACEMENTS
WEBSITE CREATION
Shone Binu, Parthiv M and Jeremiah Xavier of IIIrd year BCA , in association with Rabbitsquare have successfully developed a website for Nirmala Civil Service Academy. They delivered an excellent presentation of their work at the Council Hall of Nirmala College, in the esteemed presence of the Principal, Vice Principals, Bursar, HOD, and other faculty members.
PARTICIPATION AND PRIZE IN INTERCOLLEGIATE TECH FEST
Students of BCA department participated in different Intercollegiate Fest and won prizes
SOCIAL SERVICE ACTIVITY
The department of computer science – BCA visited Nirmala Sadan Special School, Muvattupuzha with 70 students from BCA along with 4 teachers on 25/02/2025. The Programme was structured with different types of entertainments and interactive session. We contribute Rs 20000/- for them. It was an eye opening experience for students. This event was the indication of union among our students.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Department of Computer Science – BCA organized an industrial visit to UST, Cochin, on 14/8/2024.66 students along with 2 faculty members visited the campus. The purpose of this visit was to provide students with an opportunity to gain practical insights into the working environment of a leading IT company and to understand the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
