WEBINAR ON COVID 19: AN ASSESSMENT OF IMPACT AND POLICY RESPONSES IN INDIA

The COVID-19 pandemic and the associated economic crisis are posing huge challenges. Both crises are global, but their impacts are deeply local.The policy response to both crises needs to be rapid, even if it is rough around the edges. But countries cannot pull this off on their own—the global crises require global solidarity and coordination.Governments must dramatically revisit their policies to tide over current situation.
In this context the Department of Economics organized a webinar on Covid 19: An Assessment of Impact and Policy Responses in India on 23rd May 2020. Thiswebinar created a platform for teachers, students, and research scholars to engage in active discussions and share their views and observations on this. Dr.K.N.Harilal, Professor, CDS & Member, Kerala state Planning Board and Dr. A.Arunachalam, Professor, Department of Applied Economics, CUSAT shared their views on this issue.

 

National Webinar on
AGRICULTURE BILL: PROS AND CONS

The department of Economics conducted one day National Webinar on Agriculture Bill and its Apprehensions on 8th October 2020. The webinar was led by Dr. Mary George, Economist and Former Member of Kerala State Expenditure Committee and Dr. Rajesh K, Assistant Professor, KUFOS, Kochi. The webinar gave an opportunity for the students and public to raise their apprehensions about the bill and their doubts were cleared by the experts.

STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAMME
On 28th &30th October 2020

The department has conducted Two Days Online Student Induction Programme for the first year students on 28th & 30th October 2020. The programme aimed at introducing the students about the teaching, learning and evaluation processes, student support services offered by the college, Library and learning resources, and finally Career and Higher Education Opportunities in Economics. A motivational Talk was also arranged for the students led by Mr. Sunil Yemmen, Assistant Profeesor, Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kalady.
