Student Solar Ambassador Workshop 2019
The Student Solar Ambassador workshop to train students and sensitize them towards solar energy was organized at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha on 2nd October 2019. A prominent environmentalist Dr. Shaju Thomas inaugurated the workshop. During the inaugural ceremony, all the participants took a pledge of Non-Violence towards the Environment.
The sessions were conducted as per the workshop agenda. The students familiarized the toolkit and they got a clear idea about how to test all the technical components. Later they were able to assemble quality solar study lamps. As master trainers of the workshop, Dr. Rajesh Kumar B, Mr. Titu Thomas, Ms. Anjaly Jose Dr. Jeen Maria Mathews, Dr. Simi N.J completed all the preliminary preparation such as successful completion of the online training, displaying the printed material of the workshop, and familiarization of the toolkit. Later, the trainers assembled a solar lamp each. Faculty members Dr. Thomas Varghese and Dr. Radhu S immensely supported the programme. These preparations helped them to give clear instructions to students during the solar lamp assembly session. They successfully trained 206 students. At the end of the programme, the students understood the serious consequence of climate change and felt the need and importance of effective utilization of solar energy for a prosperous future. We also extended this training programme for the benefit of 220 students of neighboring schools. We found it as a great opportunity to be part of the solar student ambassador workshop 2019. I am thankful to all the resource persons of IIT Mumbai for giving us clear instructions for the successful completion of the workshop. In future, we would like to be part of similar types of workshops.
