GYAN SAMAVESH 2024

NIRMALA ANNUAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH CONCLAVE

Theme: Climate Change and Sustainable Development

About the Conclave

Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha (Autonomous), is proud to present ‘GYAN SAMAVESH 2024’, an Annual Multidisciplinary Research Conclave aimed at bringing together scholars, researchers, and faculty members from diverse academic fields. The 2024 edition focuses on the urgent global issue of Climate Change and Sustainable Development, reflecting on how different disciplines can contribute to sustainable solutions.

This event is a platform for intellectual exchange, collaboration, and innovation, promoting high-quality research that addresses both local and global challenges. It will feature keynote speeches, paper presentations, and panel discussions, offering participants a rich learning experience.

Concept Note

Climate Change and Sustainable Development have emerged as defining challenges of our time, demanding innovative solutions that span across disciplines. Recent global events, including the G20 Summit 2023 in India, have underscored the importance of collective global action to combat climate change while promoting sustainable development. The G20 emphasized the need for resilient economic growth, green energy transitions, and a global consensus on climate policy, highlighting the critical role of multilateral collaboration.

Similarly, the COP28 Summit (Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) has urged countries to meet their climate commitments, particularly those outlined in the Paris Agreement. From India’s launch of the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) to advancements in renewable energy, science, and technology, these events mark significant milestones in global climate action. This backdrop of international developments inspires our choice of theme for the 2024 Nirmala Annual Research Conclave.

At the national level, India’s focus on sustainable development has been evident in sectors like commerce, where green finance and corporate sustainability have gained prominence. The scientific community has contributed significantly through research in renewable energy technologies, biodiversity conservation, and smart urban planning. In the fields of literature and humanities, discussions on environmental ethics and climate narratives have influenced public discourse, enriching the understanding of climate impacts on society.

GYAN SAMAVESH 2024 will focus on integrating these global and national perspectives, bringing together disciplines such as Social Science, Science, Applied Science and Literature and Humanities, to foster a holistic view of climate action.

The event will encourage discourse on innovative ideas, policies, and technologies that can lead to resilient futures, thus fostering multidisciplinary collaborations that address the complexities of climate change and sustainability.
