Collaboration
The department has a collaborative Nanoscience research project entitled “Synthesis, Characterisation and Applications of Nanocrystalline Metal Oxides” with the Department of studies in Physics, Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri, Karnataka. This major project is funded by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Thiruvananthapuram. Investigators are Dr. Thomas Varghese, Principal Investigator (PI), Prof. Sunny Joseph and Dr. Jaseentha O.P., Co-Investigators (CI).

On-Going Doctoral Research: Faculty members, Sunny Joseph and Aloysius Sabu N are registered for Ph.D in MG Univarsity, Kottayam.
Research Guides:Dr. Sankararaman S and Dr. Thomas Varghese are approved Research Guides of MG University. One research scholar is registered under Dr. Sankararaman and two scholars under Dr. Thomas Varghese. Areas of research includes Opto-electronics, Nanoscience and Compton Profile Measurements.
 
National Symposium on Nanoscience & Technology - NANOSTECH 2011
 In line with our nanoscience research programme, the department  has taken another stride of organising a National Symposiun on nanoscience and Technology - NANOSTECH 2011 at Nirmala College , Muvattupuzha during 1-2, September 2011.

 

 

 

Activities

The department of Physics maintains sophisticated, full-fledged and well-equipped laboratories for both Under graduate and Post graduate levels. Department also has a 'Materials Physics' Division under the Post graduate laboratory. This division also caters for the Interdisciplinary research activities in the Institution.
